Another use of UKM in a hot situation from one of Spicers students

Some nice work from the Spi Cer . oss Student profile: male 27-29 5ft3 athletic build Immigration detention officer. Came over to us merry bunch 6 months ago (work doesn't allow every week) after being taught very bad techniques by a BKA instructor An emergency alarm goes off at work. Male detainee armed with home made shank was attacking other detainees staff and himself Officer (student) entered room (by this stage detainee had sat down on a bed & was going to town on his own arms) immediately the detainee jumped up and pointed the shank at the officers stomach (about a foot away from him). Immediately moving the shank (wrist) with the C grip straight into a cavalier grip stepped back & applied cavalier technique & dropped detainee, closed the distance while keeping control of the arm with the shank, dropped his shin to the side of his head then clamped the arm with his other knee. Bending the arm down and around allowed him to continue to strip the shank then move to safety. Dude saved himself, others & the detainee from causing any more harm to them or himself Happy Days

Recent UKM use on the doors!

Some kind words from one of my guys who had occasion to use some UKM over the weekend "I have been training with Mark O'Neil at sussex urban krav maga for nearly two years now and can honestly say the techniques I have learned are the real deal and very effective . I work as a doorman at a nightclub on the south coast , we had an incident recently , two guys were arguing , my colleague had control of the argument as I approached . The two guys seemed to go their separate ways when another comment came from one of them , very quickly they came to blows . My colleague very quickly had one restrained which left the other guy free to rain punches down . Mark O'Neil in training has told us about recognising body shapes/positions and techniques that work when presented with certain body shapes . Remembering this I quickly noticed the guy had his head held high , and in such a position that I could bring his head down move his chin across and apply the gahote choke . The guy gave up the fight straight away and raised his hands in a surrender motion , I told him to follow me which he did and I relaxed the hold but still maintained control and led him out of the club . I felt slightly proud that I had kept my colleague safe , the guy he was restraining safe , the guy I had hold of safe , other customers and myself safe . I would like to thank Mark for the training I have been taught and urge anyone looking to learn an effective self defence programme to get along to any of the urban krav maga classes around the country , this stuff works . In the words of my sensei "Train hard fight easy " oss. example of the technique below. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_kK31vejWW8

Summer Closure

Summer Closure As most of you know I have always closed for August, this year it will be for a bit longer! Current contract on the hall runs out end of June and there are two dates that can not be done for July, as it's not worth paying for 6 months hire upfront to lose 6 weeks, I will instead make the 25th of June the last class. I will then see how enquiries are over the next couple of months to review September re-opening. Private lessons will continue during this time, with some spaces starting to free up if you want to go down this route to keep your hand in. Meanwhile Darren Sl-UKM in South London and Stan's classes in Canterbury will be your closest
